Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 201 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Ghostly
The beginning of the novel also states that he will be able to see ghosts. I believe that Dora is a "ghost" of his mother in a sense. She doesn't really know how to be a wife or take care of the house. It's also sort of ghostly that the Murdstone's come back into davids life when we that those characters have died out in the novel. It's interesting how the author makes references to ghosts and then later on Agnes calls Steerforth his "dark angel". Ghosts are mostly represented as see through and I believe he's starting to see through some of the characters such as Steerforth.
