Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 201 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

The Night of the Satellite

The first time reading this short story, I was dumbfounded by the ending, but only after reflecting on it a bit. Directly after the ending, I assumed it to be quite anticlimactic, like there weren't any morals. Later, I deciphered the moral as confirming that our problems as humans, no matter how big, are useless compared the vastness of the universe. The protagonist seemed to have realised this when he decided to go back to his normal life.
