Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 201 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations BEFORE we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

These chapters are so dramatic and interesting. Uriah planned it out well. His past constant use of umble was just a disguise because now he's not that umble of a character. I'm glad David punched him in the face. Lil Em'ly seems to be a main story plot in these chapters as Dora. I'm sad to hear that Dora had such a terrible birth that took her legs. David losses his child. Although they Found Em'ly I'm more curious on the reason why steethfort felt the need to lock her away. Didhe not make her a woman?

  1. Yes! These Chapters are pretty dramatic. Uriah is such a conniving b*stard, but yet its so funny to me how manipulative he is. Uriah is a pretty interesting character. Em'ly goes through lots of ups and downs much like a roller coaster. She needs to have a backbone. I believe she was trying to get it(becoming a woman) through superficial things and is very lost. She does not have much Self-love. Rosa Dartle is bitter and resentful of Em'ly. She has no manners in the way she speaks to Em'ly. I wish there was a section where Em'ly finally couldn't take it anymore and smacked Rosa much like what David did to Uriah.
